First Day of Pre-K

.

Sept 4th 2012
Abby's first day at Erwin Montessori for Pre-K!!!

She goes one day this week and then starts full time on 9/10. She was very excited (and a bit nervous). But she had already met her teacher at open house.

When I picked her up all she talked about was eating in the cafeteria (pretty cool) and meeting a new girl named "the new Savannah" (as opposed to the one at her daycare).
She also had her first night of dance at the new dance school. Went pretty well, but we had one very tired 4 1/2 year old last night.

Pinkalicious Tea Party

A few weeks ago Abby and her friend Lila went to the Pinkalicious Tea Party at the Winston-Salem Children's Museum. We made magic wands, hats, and even our very own Goldies (Pinkalicious has her own imaginary unicorn). We listened to stories and drank pink lemonade. The girls then played in the museum for a bit.

Quick trip to Ohio

Abigail, Tyler and I headed to Ohio to visit family while Paul stayed home to study and get caught up with some things for school. It was a nice drive up - both kids slept a bit and watched movies. Tyler is now at a point where I can hand him a baggie of goldfish and he can eat them by himself. So nice!! Abby is in a booster seat so she can push the button to start the movies. Makes my drive much easier! The kids had a great time playing with their cousins. Abby, Owen and Noah are like the 3 amigos! Poor Tyler just got yelled at alot because he tends to destroy train tracks and tables in a split second!

Dinner time

We have learned that it is easier to get Tyler to eat dinner if he is at the kids table instead of in his booster at the kitchen table. He really doesn't like to be confined anywhere! We have even better luck if Abby sits with him. However, it is not always such a good time for Abby. She gets kicked, the table moves, sometimes Tyler gets too much in his mouth and gags himself...not the best eating partner :)
We started of dinner with Tyler in his jeans because his shirt was such a disaster already. By the time we finished, he was only in his diaper. Learning to eat with a spoon is really messy work!
He decided he was so proud of himself - he would show off a bit...I had turned around for only a minute when I heard Abby say "MOM!" That kid is going to give me heart attack one of these days!

Clown Day at School

Before I left for work this am I helped Abby get dressed in a pair of pink pants and a white long sleeve shirt with a heart on it. She told me that she didn't want to wear that shirt today, and climbed in bed with Daddy. I figured she would get over it.
Apparently after I left she proceeded to wipe tooth paste on that shirt. Then told Daddy that she was supposed to dress like a clown today for school. Paul decided that she had plenty in her closet to choose from - so him and Abby put together this outfit in the pics.
Turns out she was the only one who came dressed up for clown day. She was the only one dressed up for clown day in the 2 year old classroom a couple years ago as well. At least we are consistent.

Valentines Tea Party

All of Abigail's friends came over yesterday afternoon for a tea party. Abby loved pouring everyone "tea" from her pink teapot. She has been so excited all week long. The girls ate finger foods, drank pink "tea" (Hawaiian punch) did some arts & crafts, and decorated heart cookies with all kinds of sugar!
Tyler even joined in the fun after taking a nap thru the first half of the party.

Disney

Well, Abby and my Mom went to Disney with me this past weekend for the Disney World Half Marathon. The good news is that I FINISHED!!! I ended up walking the last 3 miles because of right knee pain - but I did it! Now I have a time to beat for the next half marathon! Thank goodness we visited Epcot on the day before the race, because I was walking no where after the race finished!
We started Friday off with The Princess Storybook Breakfast, which was great! Belle was the main princess, but many of her friends showed up as well. We spent the day at Epcot and then headed to the Inspiration Dinner that night. There was a ton of noise and Mickey & Minnie to greet us as we walked into the dinner. Ethan Zohn from Survivor was at the dinner - he is currently battling Leukemia. He ran the 1/2 marathon as well. The dinner was amazing - I teared up a few times listening to the survivors and their families.
My mom took Abby to Magic Kingdom on Saturday while I hung out in the hotel room and ordered room service (rough I know). I will get some of those pics up later.
Overall, great experience! My medal is beautiful! My knee is still sore, but recovering. Can't wait to do this again. I am so proud of myself - and hope that my daughter will see me as a positive role model as she gets older!
